8/31/2004 12:29:00 PM|||Joe|||You know, I hate to dissent from the party line when it comes to the Iraqi soccer team, but has it occured to anyone that we really shouldn't count their views as being indicative of anything?

Look at it this way. This soccer team is going to the olympic games, despite their country being worn-torn. You have what's basically becoming a civil war. People are being blown up, beheaded, etc. Factory owners who indicate a willingness to budge on privatization are being assassinated.

Then Bush uses the Iraqi soccer team in its political ad.

Isn't there the very real possibility that the team denounced the ads not for political reasons, but out of fear for their lives?

I'm not saying what the case is — I just think we should be careful when citing their opinions.|||109398086037242729|||Soccer Team
