12/21/2004 01:26:00 PM|||Joe|||Ok, I think Kos has lost it. And by “lost it” I mean he's advocating the use of tactics widely condemned and abhorred by any ethical person. He wants Democrats to play just as dirty as Republicans.
He also goes off on the Kerry camp, saying they “should be lined up and shot.” Then he says:Of course, there's a silver lining to all of this. A Kerry presidency would've been an unmitigated disaster, with a hostile congress, budget woes, the mess in Iraq, etc.
Is this for real? That is a silver lining?
Excuse me, but at least with Kerry, we wouldn't have Rumsfeld (though he's hopefully gonna get the boot soon). We wouldn't have Rice. Or Cheney. There was at least a chance. It would have been tough with a hostile congress. No argument there. Still — silver lining my ass. I'll take that “unmitigated disaster” over our current administration any day.
It's sad to see people do this. When winning elections and political power subverts the very point of politics — the common good — then I can't support it.
One's character is brought into focus when one is faced with disappointment. This does not reflect well on Kos' character.
He ends with this whopper:We have nothing to lose. Being in the minority is being in the minority. Yet we have much to gain.
No, the Democratic party is still a long way from rock-bottom, folks. And there is plenty left to lose. Like credibility. Confidence. Ethical high ground. Truth. You know, inconsequential crap like that.
Maybe I sound a little idealistic. Maybe that's true. But ethically-minded people should not abide this.
The dude does not abide.|||110366561429046584|||How to Win an Election?
