3/17/2005 09:30:00 PM|||Joe|||So I guess there's rumors of Apple making a 2-button mouse.
Everyone always says that the 1-button mouse is great for beginners. And it is.
But I like it too. And I'm an old-school 3-button mouse user. You know, X-Window. I grudgingly switched to the scroll mouse back in the day, when I found out that the scroll wheel could be pressed and be the middle button. And I like the scroll wheel.
I dunno, though. I just don't care that much. The 1-button mouse works fine for me. Using the Apple or Option key modifiers is just not a big deal for me.
I think that people who complain about the Mac's mouse are just scraping for reasons to say that Macs suck.
Though I will say that running X-Window under OS X is a bit awkward with a 1-button mouse. But I only run X11 to... um... well, I guess I don't run it. I mean I've got it. Maybe... xeyes? xlogo? Eh. And I don't run OpenOffice.org, so, yeah.
What I'm really worried about is that if Apple ships these multi-button mice standard, then programmers will get lazy. Right now you rarely have ridiculous contextual menus on a mac. Well, until you install the Macromedia and Adobe suites. Yikes. Control clicking on a graphic and going to “Open With” is out of control with those two installed.
Ok, I probably lost 90% of anyone who reads my blog after the 2nd paragraph or so.
So to make it up... Some political commentary. Wolfowitz has been nominated to be the World Bank's president. My response? Meh. I don't think it's a big deal. But those of you freaking out, remember, this will get him out of the Pentagon.
Also, I hope the two presidential candidates in 2008 are Clinton and Rice. That would be rad.|||111112652600713640|||2-button Apple Mice?
