This Schiavo thing is disgraceful. Congress and the President apparently have no respect for the state of Florida, their laws and their rulings. Not only that, but several politicians are overtly using this issue for political gain.

Apparently the majority of the American public disapproves of the federal government's intrusion into this matter.

There is an established history of laws and precedents in this matter. Conservatives complain about judicial activism. There is no evidence of that here. Now it is the conservatives who are flagrantly dismissing the rule of law.

I actually hope this does reach the Supreme Court so that they can put an end to this. Not that it should have ever entered the federal courts, of course.

Of course, the people behind this push have repeatedly demonstrated that they don't really respect what the courts say, so a Supreme Court ruling may not be the end of it.

Bah. I'm obviously grumpy. I've had a headache for a couple days. Don't mind me.

UPDATE: These editorials in the Washington Post and New York Times make the same case, only probably more eloquently.|||111151100100449128|||Politics
