Anyway, the oldest email is from August 29, 1996. It's from a Psychology professor about my eligibility for honors classes or something. There's only three from 1996. There's a decent amount from 1997 on.
At some point, I pretty much stopped deleting email. I can't say for sure when — it's hard to tell. I'd say I really started keeping most email around 2001 or 2002. For some reason I didn't back up all my sent-mail, though that's not much of a problem, since messages I sent were usually quoted in replies.
It's probably only about 10—30% of the total email I received from August 1996—August 2003. I haven't looked at every single one. A lot of them are just short work-related messages.
But anyway, let me tell you. It's mortifying.
It is agonizing to go from message to message, watching me make this or that huge mistake. There are some angry emails from friends — even one where an ex pretty much broke up with me via email.
Not that that stuff still bothers me. What bothers me is seeing how I reacted in some cases. Ugh. It's embarrassing.
There was some good stuff too. And some funny stuff. But jeez.|||111397704068975363|||Ancient Email
